What the card is
This is the 2001 Upper Deck Player's Ink Tiger Woods rookie autograph, card #TW, graded BGS 9 with a 10 autograph grade, as stated in the listing title. Player's Ink is the autograph insert from 2001 Upper Deck Golf, the release that gave Tiger Woods his rookie cards.
Why this card matters
Tiger Woods was already the most dominant player in golf when Upper Deck released its 2001 golf set, which makes his 2001 Upper Deck cards his rookie cards in the hobby. The Player's Ink autograph is the signed version, and it has long been treated as the cornerstone autograph for Tiger collectors and one of the defining cards of golf collecting.
Why Tiger matters to collectors
Tiger Woods won the 1997 Masters at 21 by a record 12 strokes, and went on to win 15 major championships, second only to Jack Nicklaus. His 82 PGA Tour victories are tied with Sam Snead for the most all-time. Between 2000 and 2001 he held all four major titles at once, the "Tiger Slam." He also won the 2019 Masters, one of the most celebrated comebacks in sports.
Few athletes in any sport have defined their game the way Tiger did, and that reach brought collectors to golf cards who had never collected the sport before.
